Career Technical Education Programs

What is CTE?                                                                 

Career and Technical Education provides students with the academic content, relative technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for future education or employment in high-skill, high-wage and in-demand careers.

Antelope Valley Adult Education can train you for a new career. We offer a wealth of Career Technical Education job training programs and classes in the areas of technology and computers, health and medicine, office administration, and many more. COURSE STRUCTURES

Antelope Valley Adult Education offers a variety of career certificate programs and stand alone courses designed for students to gain the skills needed to compete in today's job market. Career Certification is issued to students who have completed a series of courses. Courses are offered in a structure that is designed to give the student the best opportunity for success.

CLASSROOM COURSES

These courses are taught by expert instructors in their field and have a set class meeting schedule. Courses are STRUCTURED, INSTRUCTOR-LED ON-CAMPUS.

HYBRID CLASSROOM COURSES

These courses are taught by expert instructors in their field and have a set class meeting schedule. A portion of the coursework will be completed online with hands-on skills demonstrated and practiced in the classroom. These courses are ONLINE AND ON-CAMPUS, INSTRUCTOR-LED.

OPEN-ENTRY COURSES

ONLINE, SELF-PACED - These courses are comprehensive and 100% online. Start anytime during the semester. Working at your own pace, students have three months to achieve course goals. Expert instructors are available in the open lab classroom to answer your questions and provide your with feedback.

Course Fees:

Course fees are due at the time of registration. You can pay online or in the office. Cashier Check, Money Orders, Credit Cards and EXACT amount cash is accepted (No Personal Checks). Fees for open-entry classes are valid for three months with the three month period beginning the day fees are paid to Antelope Valley Adult Education. All fees are subject to change without notice

Refunds:

Students who need to withdraw for a valid reason may submit a refund appeal. To do so, complete the refund request form, which can be found on our website or in the front office. If the appeal is approved, please allow up to 30 days for the refund to be processed.

Full refunds will be issued only if a course is canceled by Antelope Valley Adult Education or if there are significant changes to the class schedule (such as date or time) that prevent the student from attending.

For LASA or CalRegional students, refunds will be processed according to the guidelines specified in the student handbook.

Refunds will be issued either as a credit to the credit card used or by check, which will be mailed directly to the student.
