Certified Personal Trainer

Personal fitness training is one of the fastest growing segments of the health and fitness industry. Personal Fitness offers a wide range of opportunities for an exciting career in the areas of Physical Development, Strength and Conditioning, Personal Training, and Physical Performance Enhancement. Job outlook for fitness trainers will grow by 13% in the next few years.

Popular industries include fitness clubs, health care service providers, sports clubs, community centers, schools and educational organizations.

As a personal trainer, you are part-coach, part-mentor, part-friend and, for the right clients, even part-drill instructor. With the knowledge you’ll gain as a certified personal fitness trainer, you will design programs that are specific to each client’s needs. Whether their goals include weight loss, strength training, toning or overall health improvements, your skills and passion will provide your clients the motivation to achieve their fitness goals.

ACQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Designing exercise programs

  • Operating and maintaining exercise equipment

  • Physiology and exercise physiology

  • Effective exercise methods

  • Record keeping

  • Basic nutrition

This course prepares you for:

  • Understanding how the body functions helps you to know what the correct techniques are for coaching people.

  • Learn how to create environments in both work and home that promote healthier living by incorporating more physical activity into one’s daily routine to counteract sedentary lifestyles.

  • Discover how to help others to live their best life in informing those around you on the finer points of exercise, nutrition, as well as health and safety standards.

WHAT IS IT?

Our program is offered through the National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT). The NFPT's Personal Trainer Certification program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCAA), the fitness industry's gold standard employment pre-requisition and validation of fitness trainer skills.

WHAT Will i do?

As a personal trainer, you will:

Instruct and coach groups and individuals about exercise activities and the fundamentals of physical fitness while demonstrating techniques and ways to participate

Observe clients and teach corrective measures needed to improve skills

Act as a wellness coach, relying on your strong science-based education, and design exercise programs that fit a variety of healthy populations
