Dental Occupational Options

To become a registered dental assistant in the state of California you will be required to have 15 months work experience and additional courses that include:
  • Coronal Polishing
  • X-ray certification
  • California Law
  • Infection Control

Dental Assisting 1

Students will be introduced to oral health and nutrition, dental charting, general anatomy and physiology, disease of the mouth, teeth functions, infection control, patient care and communication, orthodontics, periodontics, lab materials and techniques, x-ray history and precautions, safety, ethics, and office management.

Dental Assisting 2

Students will participate in hands-on training in Aseptic Technique, Sterilization, Impressions and pour up, Cement mixing, X-ray film development and mounting, Periodontal dressing, Tofflemire placement, Instrument Identification and Chair-side Assisting, Internship sites for 120 hours.
