Patient Care Technician

This course prepares the student to work as an entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, nursing home, or long-term care facility. Students will learn to check vital signs, administer CPR and First Aid, assist in medical examinations, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), perform basic laboratory procedures and phlebotomy, as well as learn to provide basic patient care including bathing, feeding, toileting, and ambulating patients. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will also be eligible to take the National Health-Career Association exam to become a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
