Patient Care Technician
This program prepares the student to work as an entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, nursing home, or long-term care facility. Students will learn to check vital signs, administer CPR and First Aid, assist in medical examinations, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), perform basic laboratory and phlebotomy procedures, as well as learn to provide basic patient care including bathing, feeding, toileting, and ambulating patients. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will also be eligible to take the National Health-Career Association exam to become a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).

WHAT WILL I DO?
Patient care technicians measure and monitor vital signs, including temperature, heartbeat, oxygen levels, and blood pressure. They might also administer IVs and draw blood. PCTs will also be responsible for the care and comfort of their patients, including serving meals, changing bedding, assisting with patient restroom needs, and general well-being of their patients.
